Chasing Waterfalls : Mantayupan Falls (with added perks) at Barili Cebu

Once again I am going to blog about waterfalls here in the south of Cebu.  This time, it is the tallest of all Cebu waterfalls.  It is the Mantayupan Falls of Barili.

How to go there from Cebu City?

Take a Ceres bus at Cebu South Bus Terminal.  The travel distance is 58 kilometers and travel time is 1 hour and 48 minutes.  The fare is more or less 100 pesos. You just have to say to the bus conductor that your destination is at Shamrock at Barili.  Upon reaching this spot, you can see a lot of "habal habal" motorcycles where you can pay 20 or 30 pesos for fare in going to the falls.  It is much better if you have a private vehicle since vehicles can access the road leading there.  Once you get there at the entrance gate, you will be asked for a 30 pesos entrance fee.

I visited this waterfalls out of curiousity since it is known to be the highest waterfalls of Cebu.  When I got there at the entrance I can already hear the water cascades and I thought that the first tier was already the waterfalls that I was looking for.  But it is only the first part of it.  I went up the upper steps that lead me to see the grandeur of the Mantayupan Falls itself.  It is a magnificent beauty.  The water felt so cold and although it is not that clear, it is quite enough tempting to dip with it and to feel mother nature around you.  You can look up and see the wonder of the waterfall.  It is very relaxing to be there.

This is the longest waterfalls in Cebu.  Mantayupan Falls at Barili Cebu.
Added perks:

The "habalhabal" driver informed me that after the falls I can just walk through the nearby AC Fun Fishing.  Although during that time,  it felt like raining and some rain drops started to sprinkle.  I walked fast and ran through the nearby fishing pond. I was asked for a 10 pesos entrance fee.  The place has its' own two swimming pools too.  You can rent for 20 pesos a fishing rod made of bamboo and fish there. Tilapia is internationally known as St. Peter's fish.  There are plenty of these fishes in the area where you can catch at your own pleasure time and even let the staff their cook it for you.  This place also offers horseback riding.

Plenty of St. Peter's fishes (tilapia) here.

Why not take a selfie at AC Fun Fishing.

Smoking area at a Manchanitas Tree. Enjoy Life.
Next stop, after AC Fun Fishing is Bolocboloc Spring.  I rode again another "habalhabal" to go there to just further explore Barili.  The person who collects the fees for 20 pesos at the entrance told me that the spring's source is where the Lady Lourdes stood. Two water flowing swimming pools are there in this place.  The water there smells like a boiled egg maybe because of the sulphuric content of the spring water.

On here stood the Lady Lourdes where the source of the spring came from.

One of the two flowing water pools which is the largest of the two.
As a recap. If you want to visit the Mantayupan Falls, don't forget to visit also the walking distance AC Fun Fishing and also Bolocboloc Spring.  I have heard that there are some places to visit here also such as the Sayaw Beach.  So, have a safe travel and enjoy life to the fullest!
